Facebook has launched an online shopping service to help businesses and merchants
who are suffering from the virus. Under the new feature, shoppers can create their own
shops on Facebook and Instagram and decorate and customize items in their own way.
Based on information from Facebook, the main and primary purpose of this new feature
is to ensure that small and medium-sized businesses have an online presence and can sustain themselves in the current situation.
Mark Zuckerberg has said in a live streaming that it will be important to expand e-commerce to start rebuilding the economy in an era of epidemics.
He said if you can't physically open your store or restaurant, you can take orders online and send them to people.
Facebook says merchants will be able to create their own online shops, which could open up new business opportunities for Facebook in payments and other services. Businesses will be able to purchase ads for their stores and will be charged when businesses use Facebook's checkout option.
Mark Zuckerberg said shops can be found on businesses ’Facebook pages and Instagram profiles and can appear in those stories or be advertised in advertisements. Items made available for business will appear in stores and users can save or order items.
Businesses can handle customer support issues through Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp. Finally, the company plans to browse the store catalog and make purchases directly from the chat window. They also plan to buy directly by allowing brands and manufacturers to tag items from their Facebook catalog, so that they appear directly at the bottom of the video.
